What makes this product special
Play food is great for pretend play, which inspires your child to act out real-life scenarios such as shopping, cooking, or visiting a café. Talk about where our food comes from and what happens to it inside the body. This helps to strengthen your child’s knowledge and vocabulary.
Through role playing, your child can experiment with rules, boundaries, and opportunities for social interaction and identity formation. When multiple children play with play food together, they learn how to work together, communicate, compromise, and take turns. You can also use the play food to play grocery store and practise making special offers, writing signs, and politely greeting customers. Your child can take payment at the cash register and give back change, which is great for practising their math skills.
This activity strengthens essential skills which support your child's well-being and ability to learn:
- Stimulates hand-eye coordination, a skill we use e.g. when catching, throwing, or kicking the ball that comes flying at us in the playground, or when cutting precisely with a pair of scissors.
- Supports children's proprioception, which you may also know as the body awareness sense or the kinesthetic sense.
- Excellent for group role play, where little ones get to practise finding their own place in the game and taking turns to leads.
