Doing puzzles is a good way to get better at understanding how individual pieces fit together to form a whole and envisioning where each part belongs in the big picture.

The ability to perceive something visually (with our eyes) and envision what's missing from a whole is important when it comes to learning geometry and math as well as understanding how sums, sentences, or knitwork, among other things, are constructed of sequences and patterns.

Many puzzles have a special theme or topic, which you can talk about while you place the pieces. This is a great way to expand your child's vocabulary.
