Once the pieces have been put together, the constructions are quite sturdy. So you can leave your project overnight and come back to it the next day. Unless it’s super windy, your outdoor creations will usually stand strong overnight.

Polydron XL is four times larger than Giant Polydron, and the two sizes are compatible - super convenient if you already have some Giant Polydron pieces around or want to combine them with this set.

The pieces have bumps on one side, so your child can recognise the shapes by feeling them - great for developing their tactile sense. Another special feature is that the pieces have (English) braille markings on the inside, which gives children another way of exploring and recognising the shapes.

The plastic is lightweight, so it won't hurt if a piece falls on your head. However, the pieces aren’t too light - the wind won't carry off your creation on a breezy day at the playground. 

To clean your Polydron XL shapes, wipe them with a damp cloth and a bit of mild soap. You can also disinfect the pieces with rubbing alcohol.

You can absolutely let the kids play with their Polydron XL outside. The pieces are made of HDPE plastic, which is UV-resistant and resistant to cold and moisture. HDPE is also used to make recyclable bottles. Polydron recommends keeping your Giant Polydron shapes out of direct sunlight, but they are perfectly fine for outdoor play in the shade.

Here, important skills are developed, which are wonderful for your child's well-being and ability to learn:

Construction play is very educational, very fun, and a bit time consuming. We'll leave out a long dissertation on how this type of play strengthens your child's creativity, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills as well as understanding of geometry and interest in entrepreneurship.

With construction play, your child also gets practical experience with solving problems as they figure out how to build the construction so it doesn't suddenly fall over. Your child's construction play with all sorts of pieces, blocks, and other building materials makes it fun for them to concentrate. And it's just such a confidence boost to construct a tall, tall tower or build the longest marble run ever, or to maybe make an amazing domino track and film it when it topples.
