Classic Gonge River Stones in Nordic colours.
Staying on the River Stones without falling off is a balancing act. But playing with River Stones boosts coordination, improves balance, and sharpens spatial awareness, and it's super fun and physically challenging all at once.
It’s also a great way for kids who struggle with fear of heights to practise in a safe, confidence-boosting way. The River Stones are inspired by the smooth stones found in rivers. They come in various shapes and sizes, which offers different levels of difficulty.
It's fun to place the stones on the floor with suitable spacing between them and then let children jump from stone to stone without touching the floor. River Stones have rubber pads on the bottom to keep the stones from slipping and protect the floor.
The River Stones are made from recyclable PP plastic.
A set includes 6 River Stones: 3 large (36x36x36 cm, height: 8.5 cm) and 3 small (25x25x25 cm, height: 4.5 cm). Maximum load: 100 kg. Suitable from around 2 years. Also suitable for seniors and rehabilitation exercises.
This activity stimulates essential skills which are great for your child's well-being and ability to learn:
- This type of play supports gross motor skills. It specifically involves their ability to control the coordination of their legs and arms.
- Invites your child to have fun and develop body awareness.
- This is a way for your child to develop their vestibular sense, which helps us to stand on one leg, spin in circles, or ride in a car without losing our balance, feeling dizzy, or getting car sick.
Suitable for children aged 2 yrs. to 11 yrs.
Let your child play without first having to think about how the toy works. Here, there is no wrong or right way to play, and your child doesn't have to follow any rules. The goal is simply playing and being in the present moment. At Toy Academy, we call this type of play intuitive play. It's also known as "open ended play". We recommend that you pause and notice what happens when your child plays using their intuition.
As opposed to types of play which focus on achieving a result or playing within specific boundaries, intuitive play will often give you interesting insight into your child’s independent imagination, problem-solving skills, and thought process.
With motor skills furniture, your child isn’t supposed to sit still and stay calm. In fact, being able to rock and roll (furniture wise) can help children with motor restlessness find calm. When your child's vestibular sense and proprioception get more of the stimuli they need to function and thrive, your child has an easier time staying calm. This means that, when your child gets the sensory stimuli they need, their body is able to relax and function better.
Motor skills furniture bought at Toy Academy is durable and can withstand years of fun, active play.
