Writing, painting, and drawing strengthen your child's fine motor skills and pencil grasp, which are necessary skills for learning to write legible letters and numbers.
Drawing and having fun simply helps your child gain better control of the pencil, which is very helpful for schoolwork. And it's just lovely to receive a little handwritten note from your child that says "lov yu" - and just as surprising and amusing to come across the first note stuck to the door of your child’s room that says "groanups keep out". Later on, it’s time for more complicated writing projects such as handwritten cards for Christmas and birthdays – both made possible by a secure grasp and a trained writing hand.
