Snap-n-Learn - Surprise Squirrels

Hmm... What’s hiding inside the colourful acorns? 

Pop them open and find the adorable little squirrels that fit inside each one.  

Maybe they’ll be colour-sorted, counted, or star in a role play adventure. Or maybe they'll jump back into the acorns and pop back out, over and over. It's up to your child.

Each squirrel has its own colour as well as a little shape and number on its tummy that match the acorn of the same colour (which has the corresponding number of shapes inside the lid). 

Here, essential skills are developed, which are wonderful for your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:

• Here, your child's fine motor skills really get a workout.
• Supports visual perception.
• Stimulates hand-eye coordination, which is engaged for example when we throw, kick, or catch the ball that comes flying at us in PE class, or when we cut a precise line with a pair of scissors or need to pour water into a glass without spilling and making a mess.

Suitable for ages 18 mos. to 4 yrs.

This toy has no rules, and your child can simply play with it without having to think about how to use it. Playing in the present moment is the goal itself. At Toy Academy, we call this type of play intuitive play - its also known as "open ended play". Let your child play by following their intuition and seize the chance to notice what happens.

Unlike types of play which are about achieving a particular result, intuitive play will often let you have interesting insight into your child’s own thought process, imagination, and problem-solving skills.

This type of play helps improve your child’s ability to sort through objects and toys as well as the many impressions they experience every day. Sorting and categorizing are fundamentally a way of learning and comprehending new words, concepts, and experiences. Before we can understand what something is and what it means, we first need to know how it differs from something else.

Once your child learns to look at sorting as a way of getting an overview of tasks and activities, that skill will help them stay calm and organised in many real-life situations – sorting laundry, understanding equations, going to the recycling depot, and much more.
