It supports your child's depth perception to play with a ball using their hands, feet, head, or a racket/bat. Besides, ball games may have rules, and it's beneficial for your child to learn how to negotiate them. So, when your child firmly claims that there's certainly NO penalty, or that the ball was NOT out of bounds, that's a learning moment right there. Playing with balls also gives your child's proprioception a good workout - and that's a sense that cannot get overstimulated.
