What makes this product special

This beginner-friendly microscope lets children explore objects up close, easily and comfortably.

The stereoscope design features two eyepieces, so children don’t have to close one eye while examining samples. For many children, this is much easier than using a single-eyepiece microscope.

Getting started is simple: insert 2 AA batteries, turn on the LED light, choose either the 10x or 20x eyepiece, and place the object you want to study on the microscope stage.

Comes with 12 rock samples and an English-language guide with facts about different types of rocks.

Choose this microscope if you:

  • Are looking for a high-quality beginner microscope for children aged 8+. It includes interchangeable 10x and 20x eyepieces, as well as an easy-focus knob.

  • Want to explore minerals, rocks, and other solid objects. This microscope is NOT designed for viewing transparent specimens, as the built-in light shines down from above. For that, we recommend browsing the other microscope models in our webshop.

Children may need a little help from an adult to focus the microscope correctly.

If you’re thinking of gifting your curious child a microscope, it’s worth keeping in mind that price and quality often go hand in hand. It’s a good idea to consider what you’d like to explore together before choosing.

It’s great fun to take a closer look at something like a dead spider, and you can easily do that with a simpler microscope. But if you want to dive deeper, like exploring what's inside a drop of blood, you’ll need a microscope with 400x magnification or more. It does come at a higher price—but the aha moments are on a whole different level too.

This activity strengthens essential skills which are great for your child's well-being and ability to learn:

  • Ideal for your child's curiosity.
  • Develops observation skills.

Suitable for ages 8 yrs. to 11 yrs.

If you want to give your little knowledge-seeker a microscope, remember that price and quality most often go hand in hand. So think about what your child wants to study through the microscope.

It’s educational and fun to study a fly or a dead spider up close, and you can easily do that with a simple microscope. But if you are planning to observe the contents of a drop of blood under the microscope, we recommend that you choose a microscope for children that has more than 400x magnification. It’s a higher price bracket than simpler microscopes, but your child will learn and understand so much more.
