Beautiful wooden story pieces with a glossy finish and vibrant colours, bringing the classic Norwegian tale of The Three Billy Goats Gruff to life for children from toddler age through the early school years.
The tale was first written down in 1842 and published in a Norwegian folklore collection in 1843. Since then, the charming story of the hungry troll under the bridge and the three billy goats crossing to the mountain pasture has been retold to children all over the world. In fact, there are even Indian and Hungarian versions of the story.
This lovely set includes wooden pieces shaped like the bridge, the troll, the three billy goats, and a patch of grass representing the mountain pasture, where the goats are heading to feast after a long winter.
Storytelling is something people all over the world share. We often tell stories about the same themes across cultures, and learning to understand and tell a story with a beginning and an end is an important skill. Children build this skill by practising, telling stories again and again, talking about them along the way, asking questions, and adding their own personal twist.
For children learning to make sense of stories, hands-on tools are a wonderful support. This lovely set lets children play with the storyline, act out the tale, and bring it to life as it unfolds. It also turns storytelling into a shared, interactive experience, where the storyteller engages directly with the children, inviting them to take part, explore, and move from passive listeners to active participants.
Suitable for use at home, in childcare settings, and for people with dementia or special needs.
This activity benefits important skills which are wonderful for your child's well-being and ability to learn:
- Perfect for role play, where children practise finding their own place in the game and not always being in charge. This stimulates your child's empathy and ability to work with others.
- Inspires your child to practise their social skills in a safe environment at home.
Suitable for children aged 3 yrs. to 8 yrs.
This type of play lets your child practise telling and understanding a story with a beginning and an end. This is a useful skill, which can be practised by telling a story again and again.
When children are learning to understand stories, physical props are a great help. This wonderful play set lets your child practise telling stories. Also, it's a very good way to bring a fairy tale or story to life. The storyteller does not get hidden behind a book but gets to be in active contact with the little listeners, who get to join in the story instead of being passive.
Great for story telling at home with your child and in nurseries and kindergartens – or for people with special needs, such as dementia.
