Playing with play furniture lets your child practise familiar everyday scenarios in the supermarket or the kitchen. Also, other types of play furniture are great for getting your child ready for new experiences such as a doctor's appointment or going to a café. There are certain expectations for how children should behave in different environments, and children can only really understand those expectations if they've had a chance to practise and experiment a bit in advance, for example through play that involves ordering at a café, practising polite phrases, or talking about their symptoms.
