Pulling, squishing, squeezing, and stretching with your hands magically sharpens your child’s concentration, even though it is in fact a type of distraction. For instance, when you need to sit down and pay attention to a fairy tale, it’s fun to knead and play with various types of sensory slime, clay, or playdough while listening. In particular, for children who experience motor restlessness, playing with something that engages fine motor skills, hands, imagination, and proprioception while sitting still can help them stay calm.
Sensory slime is an extra soft type of putty, which runs through your fingers and is soooo stretchy - perfect for enjoying in endless ways. Sensory slime and Thinking Putty are two examples. They are marvellous types of putty that make you want to explore, stretch, and squeeze them with your hands for hours. Somes slimes also have glitter or other fun features that stimulate your child's vision and give their senses even more to explore.
Of course, all the different types of playdough, sensory slime, and modelling clay we carry at ToyAcademy are CE-marked and approved in accordance with current toy safety regulations - just like all our other toys.
