Doing puzzles is a fun way to get better at understanding how single pieces form a whole and envisioning where each part belongs in the big picture.

Being able to perceive something visually (with our eyes) and envision what's missing from a whole is an important skill when learning geometry and math as well as understanding how sentences, sums, or even a piece of knitting, among other things, are made up of patterns and sequences.

A puzzle often has a special topic or theme, which you can talk about while you put the pieces into place. This is a great way to strengthen your child's vocabulary about e.g. animals, flags of the world, or our universe.
