For many children, cars and other vehicles with small or huge wheels are the ultimate toys to sleep with at night, talk about, play with, and dream about. And cars are surely some of the most wonderful toys around with turning wheels and jobs to do.

Cars carry sick people to the hospital, transport everything from oatmeal to tennis balls and sunglasses, take people on vacation to Düsseldorf, and drive astronauts about on the Moon.

Playing with cars and vehicles can involve fast and furious races, life-saving rescue missions, or calm repetitive play where the cars need to be filled up with fuel over and over or drive around along the edge of the carpet. And it can involve scientific learning or be a lovely kind of role play, with friends or alone.
