Doing puzzles is a fun way to get better at understanding how individual pieces fit together to form a whole and envisioning where each piece belongs in the big picture.
Being able to perceive something visually (with our eyes) and envision what's missing from a whole is important when it comes to learning geometry and math as well as understanding how sentences, sums, or a piece of knitting, among other things, are constructed of sequences and patterns.
