Wooden Stacking Stones, 36 pcs

Item No: 1024-120740
The tactile sense
Hand-eye coordination
Curiosity

Stacking might look simple, but it’s really a series of small tasks for both your child’s brain and body.

First, your child looks at all 36 stones. Next, they choose a stone to begin with. Then they use their fine motor skills to pick up the selected stone and place it exactly where they want it to go.

Then your child repeats the process until the stack turns out as planned—if they had a plan to begin with. Maybe the idea was to build a tower with alternating colours. Or perhaps to build two towers of exactly the same height.

Maybe the stones needed sorting by colour or size to get a better overview.

Or maybe the challenge was to stack them using only the left hand.

The stacking stones have a lovely tactile feel and come in different shapes and sizes. They’re made from birch wood, with some finished in soft colours and others left natural.

Measures Største klods: 5 x 3,8 x 3,8 cm // Mindste klods: 3,8 x 2 x 2 cm.
Suitable for ages 3 yrs. to 7 yrs.

When children try stacking blocks or other small objects on top of each other, which they start doing as soon as they are able to sit up on their own, they simultaneously learn about physics, proportions, gravity, and balance. At first, it's great fun pushing over the blocks. But gradually, your child's motor skills improve, and they learn to stack 3, 5, or 10 blocks or experiment with stacking toy animals, figures, or other things. If the blocks have numbers on them, your child can get better at numbers and their sequences while playing.

Supports essential skills that really benefit your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:

  • Fantastic for your child's tactile sense. A properly stimulated tactile sense benefits your child's well-being.
  • Develops hand-eye coordination, a skill we use for example when cutting a straight line with scissors, pouring a glass of water without spilling, or when catching, throwing, or kicking a ball that comes flying towards us in PE class.
  • A delightful gift idea for your curious child.
