Stacking might look simple, but it’s really a series of small tasks for both your child’s brain and body.
First, your child looks at all 36 stones. Next, they choose a stone to begin with. Then they use their fine motor skills to pick up the selected stone and place it exactly where they want it to go.
Then your child repeats the process until the stack turns out as planned—if they had a plan to begin with. Maybe the idea was to build a tower with alternating colours. Or perhaps to build two towers of exactly the same height.
Maybe the stones needed sorting by colour or size to get a better overview.
Or maybe the challenge was to stack them using only the left hand.
The stacking stones have a lovely tactile feel and come in different shapes and sizes. They’re made from birch wood, with some finished in soft colours and others left natural.
Here, important skills are developed, which are great for your child's well-being and ability to learn:
- Wonderful for your child's tactile sense. A well-developed tactile sense benefits your child's well-being.
- Stimulates hand-eye coordination, which you make use of for instance when throwing, kicking, or catching the ball that comes flying at you in the playground, or when cutting a precise line with scissors.
- A wonderful gift idea for your curious child.
Measures Største klods: 5 x 3,8 x 3,8 cm // Mindste klods: 3,8 x 2 x 2 cm.
Suitable for ages 3 yrs. to 7 yrs.
When children try stacking blocks or other objects on top of each other, which they start doing as toddlers, they simultaneously learn about gravity, balance, proportions, and physics. At first, it's all about getting the blocks to fall. But later on, your child's motor skills become stronger, and they start to build block towers or begin stacking figures or other things. If you choose stacking blocks with numbers, your child can get better at numbers and their sequences while playing.
