Play is essential for children’s learning, well-being, and development. Through play, children learn about themselves and the world around them.
Play helps children:
• stay curious
• focus and become absorbed in what they're doing
• take on age-appropriate challenges
• build confidence
We believe children learn best by doing things for themselves:
• by making mistakes
• by getting messy
• by falling down and getting back up again
Resilience, confidence, and courage grow through experience, one small step at a time.
That's why we carefully choose toys that encourage independence, imagination, movement, and social skills — offering just the right balance of support, freedom, and opportunities to grow.
Carefully selected toys
We carefully handpick every toy from the vast world of toys available today. The only toys that make it into our range are ones we'd be happy to give our own children.
Every toy at ToyAcademy should:
• support learning through play
• be made from durable, high-quality materials
• be safe and enjoyable for children to play with

What makes this product special
If you want to give your curious little one a microscope, remember that price and quality often go together. So think about what you're hoping to study under the microscope.
For instance, if you are planning to observe a drop of blood under the microscope, our advice is that you get a microscope for children with over 400x magnification. It’s a higher price bracket than simpler microscopes, but your child will learn and understand so much more when they can focus the microscope and learn about science on their own. But it’s also interesting to look at a fly or a dead spider up close, and you can definitely do that with a simpler microscope.
Check out our range of microscopes here.
Get answers to frequently asked questions about telescopes here
For instance, if it says a telescope has 27x magnification, it means that an object which is located 27 metres away from you looks as if it's just 1 metre away when you look through the telescope.
An adult must be present to correctly assemble the telescope and teach your child to adjust the focus.
In general, we recommend aligning your expectations for these scientific instruments with your budget. Beginner telescopes are great for introducing your child to STEM and astronomy for a reasonable price. The big astronomical eureka moments will typically come with a fancier telescope, which will also be more expensive, with higher magnification and extra features.
