Doing puzzles together develops your child's patience and fine motor skills. Also, putting the pieces in place is a fun way to get better at understanding how parts fit together to form a whole and envisioning where each piece needs to be placed in the big picture.
Being able to register something visually (using our eyes) and envision what's missing from a whole is important when it comes to learning geometry and math as well as comprehending how sums, sentences, or a piece of knitting, among other things, are made up of sequences and patterns.
If the puzzle has a special picture, such as animals, anatomy, or geography, you can expand your child's vocabulary by talking about it while doing the puzzle.
