The activity supports skill development and is great for your child's well-being:

  • This type of play supports your child's gross motor skills. It specifically involves their ability to control the coordination of their arms and legs.
  • This is a way for your child to develop their vestibular sense, which helps us to spin in circles, stand on one leg, or ride in a car without getting dizzy, losing our balance, or getting car sick.
  • This is a way for your child to improve their proprioception, which increases your child's confidence to use their body in other types of physical play and benefits their concentration.

Suitable for ages 2.5 yrs. to 6 yrs.

A balance bike has no pedals, so your child pushes the bike forward with their legs while straddling the bike. Balance bikes are brilliant for building up your child's cross-body coordination and balance from the time they're little.

Being able to race around and control their own speed (far more easily than on a standard bike) gives your child a feeling of being free. At the same time, you can also practise left/right, understanding traffic signals, and looking out for other road users. A balance bike is a great way to challenge your child without them experiencing too many accidents - because at all times, your child has a foot on the ground and is able to regain balance or stop the bike.

A wonderful way to prepare for learning to ride a regular bike. Once your child is a little pro on the balance bike, using training wheels on their pedal bike often becomes a redundant middle step - because your child has already had lots of balance training.
