Here, important skills are engaged, which are wonderful for your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:

• Here, your child's fine motor skills really get a workout.
• Develops hand-eye coordination, which is activated for example when we kick or catch a ball that comes flying towards us in PE class, or when we cut a straight line with scissors or want to pour water into a glass without spilling and making a mess.
• This gives children practical experience with cause-effect through play.

With a fixed set of rules, dice games, board games, and card games are clearly defined activities without major negotiation with others. For many children, it can be a relief to immerse themselves in a game with clear rules as a break from free and wild play with their friends at school or kindergarten.

In addition, playing a game gives your child an opportunity to practise other important skills, such as losing. We recommend that you don't always let your child win when you play a game. Learning how to cope with disappointment in safe surroundings with you helps make children robust and resilient. After all, you won't be able to shield your child from defeat and disappointment later in life when they go out on their own.
