A monster friend introduces the idea of acceptance to your child's life. Monsters are different and are often portrayed as scary in stories and fairy tales. We humans often react with fear and suspicion when something breaks with the norm.

Monsters have an important place in your child's play, because they expand your child’s idea of what a friend can look like. Also, monster friends are popular with children of any gender, which opens up a world of shared play across other interests such as trucks, princesses, or swords. And monsters let your child's imagination run wild - because it's completely up to your child to decide what their monster looks like and whether it has eyes on its knees, antennas, five arms, or three ears. Normative rules of anatomy don't apply, and your child will feel proud to play with their new monster friend, who, fortunately, is anything but normal.

We carry playdough of many different colours and types and with different firmness levels. Firm playdough stimulates your child’s proprioception by providing a bit more resistance. Among other things, firm playdough is perfect for making stop motion movies, because it holds its shape well.

This activity is quiet and can help your child sit still for just five more minutes - or help them deal with long car or train rides without wiggling around in their seat. Particularly, for children who struggle with motor restlessness, playing with something that activates proprioception, hands, fine motor skills, and imagination while sitting still can create a sense of calm.

Playdough can be water-based or oil-based, and each type has its own advantages. You can soften water-based playdough by adding in a bit of water. But oil-based playdough tends to stay soft for several years.
