Building and constructing is very educational, very fun, and a bit time consuming. We could certainly write a whole book about how this type of play develops your child's hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and creativity as well as interest in entrepreneurship and understanding of geometry.
With construction play, your child also gets real-life experience with solving problems as they figure out how to set up the construction so it doesn't collapse. Your child's construction play with all sorts of blocks, pieces, and sticks develops their imagination and patience. And it's just such a confidence boost to construct a tall, tall tower or build the longest marble run ever, or to create a super cool domino track and film it as it topples.
