While playing, your child also gets practical experience with problem-solving when it comes to figuring out how to design the construction so it doesn't suddenly collapse. Your child's construction play with all sorts of blocks, pieces, and sticks develops their patience. Also, it's such a confidence boost to construct a tall, tall tower or build the longest marble run ever, or to make a really cool row of dominoes and film it as it topples.

Your child gets hands-on experience with cause and effect and how to cope with defeat (or at least try to), if (or when) their awesome structure suddenly topples over. It's very disappointing, but it's also very educational for your child to have to find solutions. Perhaps the construction needs to be tighter - or maybe it needs to be up on a table instead of at floor level where pets and younger siblings roam.
