Maileg was started in 1999 by Dorthe og Erik Mailil, who set out to make durable toys with personality and soul as a counterbalance plastic toys and throw-away culture. The name Maileg is a mix of the founders' surname and the Danish word for play. Based in Herning, Denmark, Maileg makes toy figures and accessories full of ""hygge"" and Scandinavian design.

Maileg's mice, elves, animal figures, and accessories are made with calm, immersive play in mind. It's all about creating worlds and telling stories with toys whose appearance and quality will last for years.
