Maileg was started in 1999 by Erik og Dorthe Mailil, who set out to design toys with soul, personality, and high durability as a counterbalance plastic toys and throw-away culture. The name Maileg is a combination of the Danish word for ""play"" and the founders' surname. Based in Herning, Denmark, Maileg designs animal figures, Christmas elves, and accessories that radiate Nordic simplicity and ""hygge"".Maileg's mice, elves, animal figures, and accessories are made with calm, immersive play in mind. It's all about imagining worlds and immersing yourself in stories with toys whose quality and appearance will last for years.
