Maileg was created in 1999 by Erik og Dorthe Mailil, who set out to design durable toys with lots of soul and personality as a counterbalance plastic toys and fast trends. The name Maileg is made up of the founders' surname and the Danish word for play. Based in Herning, Denmark, Maileg designs toy figures and accessories full of ""hygge"" and Scandinavian design.Maileg's elves, mice, and figures are made with calm, immersive play in mind.
