Polydron Construction Set, 164 pcs

This is the original set of Polydron construction shapes which support children in learning math, 2D and 3D geometry, design, spatial skills, and technology.

The set contains a versatile selection of pieces and offers great play value and lots of learning for young children from age 4, while also supporting older children in understanding complex math.

The patented joints snap together easily and create a strong and flexible hinge. This feature comes in very handy when building 2D and 3D geometric shapes.

The set has 164 pieces:

• 40 squares
• 100 equilateral triangles
• 24 pentagons

All sets contain 1 base frame, which makes building easier.

An English inspiration booklet is also included if you need ideas.

You can absolutely let the kids play with the original Polydron outdoors. Keep your original Polydron pieces in the shade or bring them inside after use. The pieces are made of ABS plastic, which is not UV-resistant. ABS plastic is also used for food storage containers. You can wash the set in the dishwasher at 70°C.

 

This activity stimulates essential skills which are wonderful for your child's well-being and ability to learn:

• Benefits hand-eye coordination, which is used for example when we cut a straight line with scissors, when we need to pour a glass of water without missing, or when we throw, catch, or kick the ball that comes flying at us in PE class.

Construction play is very educational, very fun, and a bit time consuming. We won't burden you with a long piece about how this type of play strengthens your child's hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and creativity as well as interest in entrepreneurship and understanding of geometry.

While playing, your child also gets real-life experience with problem-solving when they need to figure out how to design the construction so it doesn't fall over. Your child's construction play with all sorts of building blocks, pieces, or magnets develops their imagination and patience. Also, it's just such a confidence boost to construct a tall, tall tower or build the world's longest marble run, or to create an amazing domino field and film it as it topples.
