Polydron Giant Set - Translucent, 60 pcs

Giant Polydrons are construction shapes that stimulate your child's senses. Have you heard of Plus-Plus building pieces? Polydron is like a supersized version.
The shapes inspire children to create 2D and 3D geometric models. This type of Polydron is translucent.

Giant Polydrons are compatible with Polydron XL, so if you already have some Polydron XL pieces at home, you can put the two types together. 

The pieces help children develop an understanding of textures and shapes, and they are brilliant for early-years construction play and learning, at home, at preschool, at the restaurant, on trips, etc.

The Giant Polydron pieces have bumps on one side, so your child can recognise the shapes by feeling them - great for developing their tactile sense. 

The insides of the Giant Polydron shapes have (English) braille patterns. This gives children another tactile way of exploring and recognising the shapes and offers an extra sensory experience.The very large shapes are super easy to put together and are the perfect size for little hands. These construction shapes are simply must-haves in daycares, preschools, play places, and waiting areas. They are also great for special education settings.

Once the pieces have been put together, the constructions are quite sturdy. So you can leave your project overnight and come back to it the next day. Unless it’s super windy, your outdoor creations will usually stand strong overnight.

The plastic is lightweight, so it won't hurt if a piece falls on your head. However, the pieces aren’t too light - the wind won't carry off your creation on a breezy day at the playground. This set includes 60 pieces: 30 squares and 30 triangles.

To clean your Giant Polydron shapes, wipe them with a damp cloth and a bit of mild soap. You can also disinfect them with rubbing alcohol.

You can absolutely let the kids play with Giant Polydrons outdoors. The pieces are made of HDPE plastic, which is UV-resistant and resistant to cold and moisture. HDPE is also used to make recyclable bottles. Polydron recommends keeping your Giant Polydron shapes out of direct sunlight, but they are perfectly fine for outdoor play in the shade.

This activity develops essential skills which are wonderful for your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:

• Supports hand-eye coordination, which is used for example when we use a pair of scissors to cut a precise line, when we need to pour a glass of water without spilling, or when we catch or kick a ball that comes flying at us in PE class.

Building and construction play is fun, a bit time consuming, and very educational. We won't get into a long-winded dissertation on how this type of play strengthens your child's fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and creativity as well as understanding of geometry and interest in entrepreneurship.

With construction play, your child also gets real hands-on experience with problem-solving when it comes to figuring out how to build the construction so it doesn't collapse. Your child's construction play with all sorts of building materials stimulates their imagination. Also, it's just such a confidence boost to construct a tall, tall tower or build the world's longest marble run, or to maybe make an amazing row of dominoes and film it as it topples.
