Suitable for ages 2 yrs. to 7 yrs.

Talk about where food comes from, when we typically eat it, and where it goes after we swallow it. This helps to develop your child’s vocabulary and knowledge. Play food is fantastic for role play, which inspires your child to copy real-life situations such as shopping, cooking, or going to a café.

Through role play, your child can experiment with rules, boundaries, and opportunities for social interaction and identity formation. When children play with play food together, they practise how to communicate and cooperate, take turns, and compromise. You can also use the play food to play grocery store and practise writing little signs, coming up with prices and special offers, and practising polite phrases. Your child can practise taking payments and giving back change, which is great for their math skills.

The activity helps your child develop new skills and is great for your child's well-being:

  • Gives your child plenty of opportunities to unleash their imagination.
  • In role play, your child imitates us adults and experiments with everyday situations or their own universe.
  • Strengthens social skills, which, according to early years educators and childcare professionals, are more important for students to practise than learning grammar and math.
