Maileg was started in 1999 by Erik og Dorthe Mailil, who set out to make durable toys with personality and soul as a counterbalance plastic toys and throw-away culture. The name Maileg is made up of the founders' surname and the Danish word for play. Based in Herning, Denmark, Maileg designs Christmas elves, dollhouses, and toys that radiate ""hygge"" and Scandinavian design.Maileg's elves, mice, and figures are made with calm, immersive play in mind. It's all about imagining worlds and telling stories with toys whose appearance and quality will last through years of play.
