Animal figures are a bit of a classic children’s toy. Your child will probably use them for all kinds of fun and imaginative role play. Maybe the animals live on a farm or at the zoo – or maybe they go to the supermarket. The play with imagining what the animals experience develops your child’s ability to make up funny stories and put words to them.

The animals also come in handy when your child is practising math and needs to work out how many animals you'll each have if you share them between you. Maybe the animals also want to be counted, sorted, stacked, or arranged according to their initials or the number of syllables or letters in their names.

This toy doesn't have any rulebook or right or wrong ways to play, and your child can simply play without worrying about how to use it. The goal is simply playing and being in the present moment. We call this type of play intuitive play - its also referred to as "open-ended play". Let your child play by using their intuition and take the opportunity to notice what happens.

Unlike types of play which are aimed at achieving a particular result, intuitive play will most often let you have a fascinating peek into your child’s own imagination, thought process, and problem-solving skills.
