Doing puzzles is a fun way to get better at understanding how single pieces form a whole and envisioning where each piece needs to be placed in the big picture.

The ability to perceive something visually (with our eyes) and envision what's missing from a whole is an important skill for learning math and geometry as well as understanding how sums, sentences, or even a piece of knitting, among other things, are made up of sequences and patterns.

If the puzzle has a special topic, such as anatomy, jungle animals, or flags of the world, you can talk about it and strengthen your child's vocabulary while you're placing the pieces.
