Drawing, writing, and painting strengthen your child's grasp and fine motor skills, which are both necessary skills for learning to write legible numbers and letters.
Drawing and having fun simply helps your child gain better control of the pencil, which is very helpful for schoolwork. And it's absolutely lovely to receive a little handwritten note from your child that says "lov yu" - and equally surprising and amusing to notice the first piece of paper stuck to the door of your child’s room that says "groanups keep out". Later on, it’s time for slightly more complex writing projects such as handwritten birthday and Christmas cards – both made possible by a secure grasp and a trained writing hand.
