A balance bike does not have pedals, so your child pushes the bike along with their legs while straddling it. Balance bikes are great for strengthening your child's balance and cross-body coordination from the time they're little.

Being able to race around and control their own speed (far more easily than on a standard bike) gives your child a feeling of freedom. At the same time, you can also practise left/right, understanding traffic signals, and looking out for other road users. A balance bike is a great way to challenge your child without having to worry about them having too many accidents - because your child constantly has a foot on the ground and is able to regain balance or stop the bike.

An ideal way to prepare for learning to ride a pedal bike. Once your child has mastered the balance bike, using training wheels while they learn to ride their pedal bike often becomes a redundant middle step - because your child has already had lots of balance training.
