When your child plays with a ball using their feet, hands, head, or a bat/racket, their depth perception is enhanced. Some ball games have rules, and it's good for your child to practise negotiating them. So, when your child stubbornly maintains that there's definitely NO penalty, or that the ball was NOT out of bounds, don't worry - that's a learning moment. Playing with balls also gives your child's proprioception a good workout - and that's a sense that cannot get overstimulated.
Supports important skills that really benefit your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:
- This type of play helps your child train their depth perception skills. Among other things, this will help your child navigate traffic in a safe manner. "How fast is the car coming towards me?" suddenly becomes a little bit easier to estimate.
