This is a toy your child can just play with without first having to figure out how it works. There is no right or wrong way to play, and there are no rules dictating what your child should do. The goal is simply playing and being in the present moment. We call this type of play intuitive play. It's also called "open ended play". Let your child play by following their intuition and take the opportunity to observe what happens.
As opposed to types of play which are aimed at achieving a particular result, intuitive play will often let you have interesting insight into your child’s own thought process, problem-solving skills, and imagination.
With motor skills furniture, your child isn’t supposed to sit still and stay calm. Rocking and rolling can actually help children with motor restlessness find calm. Your child's proprioception and vestibular sense need input to function at their best. And when your child gets the sensory stimulation they need, it's easier for your child to stay calm.
