The activity is wonderful for your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:

• Gives your child the courage to become self-reliant. Many children WANT to do things independently, and that desire for self-reliance gets stimulated through the skills and confidence learned in this activity.

Suitable for ages 5 yrs. to 11 yrs.

Pictograms help your child understand what's going to happen next. The ability to plan, structure, and organise doesn't develop until later in childhood or when your child becomes a teenager. So, a ton of things happens during a day that your child doesn’t know is going to happen at all.

Children don’t think in hours and minutes. They rather think in events. It’s hard for children to form a thought sequence like “first I have to get dressed, then brush my teeth, then leave the house”. And that’s why getting everyone ready and out the door can sometimes be a stressful mess of meltdowns and despair.

Children with executive function difficulties, for instance children who experience sensory overload or are on the autism spectrum, can use pictograms to predict and plan their day. But children generally tend to find that their day becomes more predictable when explained visually. That's precisely why pictograms can be helpful.
