Maileg was started in 1999 by Dorthe og Erik Mailil, who set out to design toys with soul, personality, and high durability as a counterbalance to fast trends and throw-away culture. The name Maileg is a combination of the founders' surname and the Danish word for play. Based in Herning, Denmark, Maileg makes animal figures, Christmas elves, and accessories that radiate nostalgia and Nordic simplicity.Maileg's dollhouses, mice, and elves are made with immersive, calm play in mind. It's all about imagining worlds and telling stories with toys whose appearance and quality will last for many years.
