Different kinds of play sets and play furniture that have themes from the real world are a safe environment for your child to practise and play with grocery shopping, serving food, or going to the doctor's office. Children are expected to behave in certain ways in these environments, and children can only live up to such expectations if they've had a chance to practise and experiment a bit in advance, for example through play that involves being polite, describing symptoms, or placing an order. This type of play is also perfect for your shy child, who can practise conversation through play.
