Toy food is great for pretend play, which inspires your child to imitate real-life scenarios such as cooking, shopping, or visiting a café. Have conversations about what happens to food inside the body, where our food comes from, and when we usually eat it. This strengthens your child’s knowledge and vocabulary.
Role play where children copy real-life activities strengthens their understanding of the world around them. With play food, your child can also play with food in a way that is most likely not allowed at the dinner table. You can also use the play food to play grocery store and practise writing little signs, coming up with prices and special offers, and practising polite phrases. Your child can take payment at the cash register and give back change, which is a great way of practisting their math skills.
Being at the beach or in the sandbox is one of the very best playgrounds for most children. Sculpt the sand into big sand castles, tasty cakes, or roads so small cars and trucks can drive around in Sand City.
