The Highwaykick 1 can grow with your child from around age 1 and all the way through their preschool years.

Seat height, handlebar height, weight, and wheel size are the same as our other Highwaykick 1 models.Your child steers the Highwaykick by shifting their body weight rather than turning the handlebars (which actually don’t turn at all).
That means balance training happens naturally as your child learns to control their centre of gravity by leaning their body from side to side.
The Highwaykick 1 works as both a balance bike and a kick scooter, and switching between the two is easy and fuss-free.

This very cool model comes in black and gold.

A balance bike is a fantastic way to develop your child's balance and cross-body coordination from the time they're young. What's special about balance bikes is that they don't have pedals, so your child pushes the bike forward with their feet while straddling it.

A balance bike is a great way to challenge your child without them having a lot of falls or crashes - because at all times, your child has a foot on the ground and can brake and keep their balance. Being able to zoom around and control their own speed (much more easily than on an ordinary bike) gives your child a sense of freedom. At the same time, you can also practise traffic signals, left/right, and being considerate of other road users.

A wonderful way to prepare for learning to ride a regular bike. Once your child is a little pro on the balance bike, putting training wheels on their regular bike while they learn how to pedal often becomes an unnecessary middle step - because your child has already had lots of balance training.

Scooters are a great way for children to practise their gross motor skills and balance while at the same time getting plenty of exercise, fresh air, and speed. What's more, scooters are easy to bring with you everywhere you go - some of our scooters can even be folded up.

Older kids (and kids with balance bike experience) can race around on scooters with two wheels, or a trick scooter, while the smaller children can start by practising on three wheels.

The activity helps your child develop new skills and is wonderful for your child's well-being:

  • This type of play helps your child improve their depth perception skills. Among other things, this will help your child navigate traffic more safely. "How fast is that car coming towards me?" suddenly becomes a little easier to judge.
  • Helps your child get their body moving, which in turn stimulates their gross motor skills.
  • Develops the vestibular sense, which improves balance, vision, and body awareness.
