Doing puzzles is a good way to get better at understanding how parts fit together to form a whole and figuring out where each piece belongs in the big picture.
The ability to perceive something visually (using our eyes) and envision a whole (and what parts are missing) is important in learning geometry and math as well as understanding how sums, sentences, or even a piece of knitting, among other things, are constructed of sequences and patterns.
