There are certain expectations for how children should behave in different environments, and children can only understand such expectations if they've had a chance to practise and experiment a bit in advance, for example through play that involves ordering at a café, practising polite phrases, or talking about their symptoms. It’s also a perfect play activity for your shy child, who can practise having conversations.
