KAPLA planks open the door to a world of creative building. From flat patterns to impressive 3D constructions, your child can build, experiment and bring ideas to life in countless ways.

Without any glue or clips, your child can create remarkable constructions while developing imagination and fine motor skills along the way. Playing with the planks naturally encourages logical thinking and creativity, while introducing concepts such as geometry, math, spatial awareness, and balance.

As your child grows, they pass through different stages of cognitive development. At each stage, they play in new ways and develop new skills. KAPLA grows with your child, allowing them to take on increasingly complex building projects.

As they build and experiment, children naturally develop concentration, persistence and patience.

Set includes:

120 planks in blue, red, and pink. Idea book.

Mix and match different colours, or add colourful planks to your other KAPLA sets to bring extra depth, contrast, and details to your creations.

Tip: Use the planks to build a spectacular domino run, then enjoy the satisfying sight of them toppling one after another.

You'll also find plenty of inspiration for incredible patterns and impressive structures in KAPLA's beautiful idea books.

Suitable for ages 3 yrs. to 11 yrs.

Constructing and building is educational, fun, and also time consuming. We can easily write a long book about how this type of play strengthens your child's fine motor skills, creativity, and hand-eye coordination as well as understanding of geometry and interest in entrepreneurship.

With this type of play, your child also gets practical experience with problem-solving when it comes to figuring out how to set up the construction so it doesn't collapse. Your child's construction play with all sorts of magnets, building blocks, or pieces develops their imagination and patience. Also, it's just so cool and satisfying to construct a tall, tall tower or build the longest marble run ever, or to make a really cool domino track and film it as it topples.

The activity helps your child develop new skills and is great for your child's well-being:

  • Gives your child's fine motor skills a wonderful workout.
  • Stimulates hand-eye coordination, a skill we use for instance when we throw, catch, or kick the ball that comes flying at us in the playground, when we cut a straight line line with scissors, or when we want to pour water into a glass without spilling and making a mess.
  • Develops and improves concentration.

Do you know KAPLA?

Kapla are simple, brilliant building blocks. They are made of pine and are very easy to balance, stable, and durable - and they have a slightly rough texture, so they are easy to build with. You can build surprisingly large structures with Kapla blocks. On social media, you can find huge, focus-intensive constructions of beautiful spiral staircases or Tower Bridge, made only from the wooden blocks from Kapla.

Your child will learn about cause and effect and how to deal with disappointment, if (or when) their awesome structure suddenly topples over. It's such a bummer, but it can also teach your child to be solution-oriented. Perhaps the structure needs to be tighter - or maybe it needs to be built on the dining table instead of the floor, away from wagging dog tails.
