Sea monkeys, also known as Aqua Dragons, are 1-2 cm long aquatic creatures that you can hatch and grow yourself at home. Their official scientific name is Artemia Salinas, and for millions of years they have lived in seas and bodies of salt water, even alongside dinosaurs!.

When you receive the eggs, they are dried and in a state of hibernation. The eggs wake up when you soak them in clean fresh water, and then they stay alive for about 3 months. After 2-3 days, the eggs hatch. To begin with, the Aqua Dragons will be so tiny you can't see them, but within about a week you'll notice them. Among other necessities, the kit comes with enough food for approximately 5 months.

From then on, you have to make sure to check on them every day, also during holidays. It only takes a couple of minutes, but it is essential for the well-being of the little creatures. At the end of the day, Aqua Dragons/sea monkeys are living creatures. They may be invertebrates and low on the food chain, but as living beings they still need to be cared for with respect. For this reason, an adult should always be there to supervise when children get Aqua Dragons - just as they should be if a child get a puppy or a goldfish.

When the first group of Aqua Dragons have died, you can often manage to hatch any eggs that might remain. Follow the included instructions.
