Suitable for children aged 1 yr. to 6 yrs.For example, when you need to sit still and pay attention to a fairy tale, it’s wonderful to squeeze and knead different kinds of sensory slime, clay, or playdough while listening. It magically sharpens your child’s concentration, even though it is in fact a form of distraction.
Playdough lets your bigger child make anything from three-headed aliens to knights and princesses and bring their wildest ideas to life. For very young children, playdough is mostly about the sensory experience.
We carry playdough of many different types and colours and different hardness levels. Firmer playdough stimulates your child’s proprioception because it offers more resistance when played with. For instance, firm playdough is excellent for making stop motion movies, because it holds its shape well.
It’s a quiet activity that can help your child be still for just 5 more minutes - or help them cope with long car or train rides without restlessly moving around in their seat. In particular, for children who struggle with motor restlessness, fiddling with something that activates fine motor skills, hands, imagination, and proprioception while sitting still can create a sense of calm.
Oil-based playdough tends to stay soft for years. You can soften water-based playdough by mixing in a bit of water.
