Suitable for ages 1 yr. to 6 yrs.Pulling, squishing, squeezing, and stretching with your hands magically sharpens your child’s concentration, even though it is in fact a form of distraction. For instance, when your child needs to sit still and pay attention to a fairy tale, it’s wonderful to knead and play with various kinds of clay, playdough, or sensory slime while listening.
For very young children, playdough is mainly about the sensory experience. And bigger kids can use playdough to bring their craziest ideas to life. Your child can make anything from cats with four heads to queens, kings, princes, and princesses.
We carry playdough of many different colours and types and with different firmness levels. Firm playdough stimulates your child’s proprioception by providing a bit more resistance. For example, firm playdough is very suitable for making stop motion movies, because it holds its shape well.
It’s a calm activity that can help your child sit still for just 6 more minutes - or help them endure long car or train rides without wiggling about in their seat. Especially, for children with a lot of motor restlessness, fiddling with something that engages fine motor skills, hands, imagination, and proprioception while sitting still can create a sense of calm.
Oil-based playdough tends to stay soft for years. You can soften water-based playdough by kneading in a bit of water.
