Suitable for ages 1 yr. to 6 yrs.Squishing, pulling, patting, squeezing, and stretching with your hands magically improves your child’s concentration, even though it is really a form of distraction. For instance, when you need to sit still and pay attention to a fairy tale, it’s great to knead and fiddle with different kinds of sensory slime, clay, or playdough while listening.
Your older child can make anything from three-headed aliens to princesses and knights and bring their wildest ideas to life. For the littlest ones, playdough is mainly about the sensory experience.
We carry playdough of several different colours and types and different hardness levels. Firm playdough stimulates your child’s proprioception by providing a bit more resistance. Among other things, firm playdough is excellent for making stop motion movies, because the shape holds better.
This activity is quiet and can help your child sit still for just 5 more minutes - or help them deal with long train or car rides without restlessly moving around in their seat. In particular, for children who struggle with motor restlessness, fiddling with something that activates their hands, proprioception, imagination, and fine motor skills while sitting still can help them stay calm.
Oil-based playdough tends to stay soft for years. You can soften water-based playdough by kneading in a bit of water.
