For instance, when you need to sit and pay attention to a story, it’s great to knead and squeeze different kinds of playdough, clay, or sensory slime while listening. It magically improves your child’s concentration, even though it is in fact a form of distraction.

Playdough lets your bigger child make anything from pink elephants with spots to queens, kings, princes, and princesses and bring their wildest ideas to life. For very young children, playdough is mainly about the sensory experience.

We carry playdough of several different colours and types and with different hardness levels. Firm playdough stimulates your child’s proprioception by providing a bit more resistance. Among other things, firm playdough is excellent for making stop motion movies, because it holds its shape better.

It’s a quiet activity that can help your child be still for just seven more minutes - or help them cope with long train or car rides without fidgeting and moving about in their seat. In particular, for children who experience a lot of motor restlessness, fiddling with something that activates proprioception, hands, fine motor skills, and imagination while sitting still can create a sense of calm.

Playdough can be either water-based or oil-based, and each type has its own advantages. You can soften water-based playdough by adding a bit of water to it. But oil-based playdough remains soft for several years.
