A monster friend introduces the idea of acceptance to your child's play. Monsters are different and are often portrayed as frightening in stories and fairy tales. We humans often react with fear and suspicion when something breaks with the norm.

Playing with monsters expands your child’s understanding of what a friend can look like. Also, monsters are popular with children of all genders, which inspires kids to play together across their different interests, like princesses, swords, or cars. And monsters let your child's imagination run wild - because when your child creates, sculpts, or invents a monster, they get to decide whether it has seven ears, an eye on each knee, antennas, or arms everywhere. Normative success criteria dissolve, and your child will proudly play with their new monster friend, who, thank goodness, is anything but normal.

We carry playdough of several different colours and types and with different hardness levels. Firmer playdough stimulates your child’s proprioception because it offers more resistance when played with. Among other things, firm playdough is great for making stop motion movies, because it holds its shape better.

This activity is quiet and can help your child sit still for just five more minutes - or help them endure long train or car rides without restlessly moving around in their seat. Especially, for children who experience motor restlessness, fiddling with something that stimulates proprioception, hands, fine motor skills, and imagination while sitting still can help them calm down.

Playdough can be water-based or oil-based, and each has its own advantages. You can soften water-based playdough by kneading in a bit of water. But oil-based playdough remains soft for years.
