A monster friend invites acceptance into your child's life. Monsters are different and are often portrayed as dangerous in stories and fairy tales. We humans often react with fear and suspicion when something breaks with the norm.

Playing with monsters expands your child’s idea of what a friend can look like. Moreover, monsters are popular with children of all genders, which opens up a world of shared play across other interests such as trucks, princesses, or swords. And monsters give your child’s imagination free rein - because it's completely up to your child to decide what their monster looks like and whether it has eyes on its knees, antennas, five arms, or three ears. Monsters don’t have to look "perfect" (in a normative sense), and your child will proudly introduce you to their new monster friend, who, fortunately, is far from normal.

We carry playdough of many different colours and types and with different firmness levels. Firm playdough stimulates your child’s proprioception by providing a bit more resistance. For instance, firm playdough is excellent for making stop motion movies, because the shape holds better.

This activity is quiet and can help your child sit still for just 6 more minutes - or help them endure long train or car rides without restlessly wiggling around in their seat. Especially, for children who experience a lot of motor restlessness, fiddling with something that engages their hands, proprioception, imagination, and fine motor skills while sitting still can bring a sense of calm.

Playdough can be water-based or oil-based, and each has its own advantages. You can soften water-based playdough by adding in a bit of water. But oil-based playdough remains soft for years.
